Matt’s family moved to the Wood River Valley when he was just an ankle-biter. Hikes with his parents, Community School outdoor trips, and an early career guiding on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River cemented Matt’s love of the central Idaho landscape. Matt enjoys torturing his family by planning long death marches into the Idaho backcountry. He loves sharing his knowledge of the landscape through his guidebooks and photography, but hopes his audience knows how to recognize a death march and has the good sense to stay away.
